Day 1

Arrive in Edinburgh

Upon our arrival in Edinburgh, we’ll get comfortably settled into our accommodations, marking the start of our Scottish adventure with a delightful group dinner at a favorite local eatery on the famed Royal Mile. As night falls, we delve into the city’s eerie past with a private Ghosts & Legends Tour, guided by a local Paranormal Psychologist. We’ll explore the historical sites and graveyards of Old Town Edinburgh, each with its own haunting tales.

Day 2

Edinburgh City

This morning we will catch the sunrise and unparalleled views as we hike the 2.5 mile loop to Arthur’s Seat. This ancient volcano, perched above Edinburgh, promises an awe-inspiring experience. Afterward, we set off on a stroll through Old Town, immersing ourselves in the area’s history and enjoying some shopping. Next, we’ll tour Edinburgh Castle, one of Europe’s oldest fortifications. Walk in the footsteps of soldiers, kings, and queens as we uncover the secrets of this remarkable landmark. This evening enjoy free time to explore Edinburgh at your leisure… visit a charming local pub, catch some traditional Scottish music, or simply unwind and rejuvenate.

Day 3

Edinburgh to Oban

This morning we meet our private local guide and journey from Edinburgh into Perthshire, the geographic heart of the Scottish Highlands. On the way, we pause to marvel at The Forth Bridges, Scotland’s famous three bridges spanning three centuries. Our first destination is the unique double stone circle, Croft Moraig. We then visit the Fortingall Yew, estimated to be 3,000-9,000 years old, with significant connections to Celtic culture and Druids. Our travels continue through the scenic Glen Lyon area, known as Scotland’s spiritual heart, where we embark on a memorable hike up to Fionn’s Rock. Our day concludes in Oban, the vibrant port city where we lodge for two nights.

Day 4

Kilmartin Glen

Today, the echoes of the past come alive! We’ll traverse the remarkable terrain of Kilmartin Glen, concentrated with more than 350 ancient monuments of Prehistoric, Neolithic and Bronze Age origins. The glen spans 5,000 years with a multitude of cairns, standing stones, carved rock, stone circles, forts and castles. Experience the quiet majesty and atmosphere of the Temple Wood Stone Circle. We’ll discover hidden histories among the surrounding cairns, a complex ritual and funerary site that was used for more than 2,000 years. We continue on with a visit to Dunadd Fort, where the early kings of Scotland were crowned – a royal power center for Gaelic Kings. One of the most storied sites in Scotland, it is believed to be the capital of the ancient kingdom of Dál Riata. We’ll learn about its rich history, absorb the stunning views and feel the mystical passage of time.

Day 5

Isle of Iona

Following yesterday’s exploration of Gaelic Kings and Neolithic marvels, today we ferry to the sacred Isle of Iona – the birthplace of Scottish Christianity. Embracing the island’s spirit, we hike to St. Columba Bay to stand on the very spot where St. Columba first set foot from Ireland in AD 563. The breathtaking beach vista radiates serenity and a profound sense of spirituality, an ideal setting for an afternoon of peaceful reflection and exploration. Later, a stroll through the monastic grounds of Iona Abbey will immerse us in the ambiance that defines this sacred island. Our adventure continues as we ferry to the lovely Isle of Mull, a gem in the Inner Hebrides. Traversing the island, we discover the charming town of Tobermory, known for its vibrant, color-drenched houses that ring the peaceful bay. Tonight we lodge and dine in the tranquil surrounds of the Isle of Mull.

Day 6

Glencoe to Isle of Skye

After a rejuvenating night on the Isle of Mull, reflecting on our experiences thus far, we return to the mainland via ferry. We make our way to the majestic valley of Glencoe, also known as the Glen of Weeping. Here, we lace up for a hike through the mystical terrain, regarded in Celtic culture as a ‘thin place’ where the spiritual and physical worlds draw close. We’ll delve into the poignant histories of this area that are deeply rooted in the identity of Scottish Highlanders. Our afternoon unfolds with a visit to Glenfinnan, the enchanting hamlet on the shores of beautiful Loch Shiel. It is here that the 1745 Jacobite Rising began, one of the most important events in Scottish history. Later, we ferry “o’er the sea to Skye” to our next captivating destination: the iconic Isle of Skye.

The Isle of Skye

There is no overstating the allure and otherworldly beauty of the Isle of Skye. Today, we delve into the mesmerizing landscapes of this beautifully diverse island. We’ll seek out the ethereal Fairy Pools and Fairy Glen, where time seems to pause and fantasy takes hold. The day’s adventure includes a hike through the iconic Quiraing, a testament to nature’s rugged and untamed grandeur, and a visit to historic Duscaith Castle, a steadfast monument to Skye’s past. As we navigate these dream-like spaces, we’ll unearth stories of romantic entanglements between fairies and humans, and a valiant warrior queen, bringing an extra layer of magic to our exploration.

The Isle of Harris and Lewis

This morning, we transition to the rugged beauty of the Isle of Harris and Lewis, Scotland’s largest and northernmost Outer Hebrides island. Famed for its dramatic landscapes, distinctive Gaelic culture, and historical significance, this island promises rich exploration. Our journey includes an idyllic afternoon of relaxation at the world-acclaimed Luskentyre Beach, a secluded haven with turquoise waters and inspiring mountain views of Harris and the Isle of Taransay. As the day concludes, we head towards the port city of Stornoway, the thriving capital of the Outer Hebrides.

Day 9

The Isle of Harris and Lewis

Today, we embrace the unhurried rhythm of the Isle of Lewis. Adopting a serene pace for the day, we immerse ourselves in the enduring mystique of the Calanais Standing Stones, monoliths that predate even the Pyramids of Giza. We will also wander to smaller, nearby stone circles, each with its own ancient whisper. This afternoon we’ll delve into the fascinating history and culture of the island with visits to Iron Age Viking sites. We’ll enjoy a relaxing evening in Stornoway with free time to wander around its picturesque fishing port and delightful shops.

Day 10

Inverness

As we depart Stornoway, we set sail on an early ferry to Ullapool, reconnecting with mainland Scotland. Our next stop takes us to Knockfarrel, where we’ll embark on a picturesque hike that includes a stone maze, remnants of an Iron Age fort, and Pictish stone carvings. After lunch in the beautiful historic village of Beauly, we check into our accommodations in Inverness. This afternoon, we’ll take a journey back in time at the Clava Cairns, where we’ll explore ancient standing stones and burial ring cairns that are over 4,000 years old. Tonight, we gather to celebrate our adventure with a special farewell dinner on the banks of Loch Ness.

Touchwood House is owner-operated, offering a warm welcome and comfortable accommodation amidst beautiful surroundings.

Our rooms offer luxurious double and twin en-suites. Each morning, enjoy a continental breakfast in your room, complemented by tea and coffee making facilities. Additional amenities include WiFi, a washer/dryer, iron, and hairdryer. We look forward to welcoming you to our guest house!

All itineraries are subject to change to accommodate the client’s interests, budget, and needs. All tours are custom and can be adjusted.  On finalization of the tour itinerary with the client, a quote will be submitted for approval.  Upon approval of the itinerary/quote with the client and Traveling Soul Tours, a deposit of 1/2 of the total quote will be required to hold dates on the tour. The remaining balance will be due 60 days before departure.  The quoted price will include hotels, transportation, selected meals, and attractions outlined in the itinerary.

Additional costs will include airfare, meals, additional attractions, tips for tour guides/hospitality staff, shopping, and any other additional expenses incurred by the client.  Insurance is encouraged and will be available through a third party company.  Cancelation fees will apply and will be determined at time of cancelation and insurance coverage.
