Day 1
Arrive in Edinburgh
Upon arrival in Edinburgh, we check in to our hotel, then we’re off to lunch at a delicious local-favorite restaurant. Next, we tour the Johnnie Walker Experience and afterward enjoy an evening stroll through the Georgian and neo-classical architecture of Edinburgh’s New Town on the way back to the hotel.

Day 2
Edinburgh City
We begin our exploration of Edinburgh’s Old Town with a fascinating tour of hidden subterranean streets from the 17th century, frozen in time below The Royal Mile. After lunch, we join our local private guide where we’ll discover the history and scenery of this remarkable 1,200-year-old city, including a visit to Edinburgh Castle, followed by shopping and exploring the famed Royal Mile, Victoria Street and Prince’s Street.

Day 3
Edinburgh to Pitlochry
This morning we meet our private guide, leaving the Lowlands behind and climbing into the Highlands proper. Our exciting trek north takes us to fascinating historical stops that include the village of Falkland (Mary, Queen of Scots’ favorite home) and the ancient university town of St Andrews, the Home of Golf. We’ll visit the remains of St Andrews Cathedral, which was once Scotland’s largest cathedral and most magnificent church. Later, we lodge and dine in Pitlochry, and tonight we’ll enjoy unique outdoor entertainment for a one-of-a-kind evening.

Day 4
Pitlochry to Inverness
Our day begins with a relaxing autumnal forest walk at the spectacular Dunkeld Hermitage. Then, we take in the scenic splendor of the Queen’s View on our way to visit Blair Castle & Gardens, home of Clan Murray. Next, we’ll enjoy some specialty shopping in the area. We make our way to Inverness for hotel check-in and dinner at a local favorite restaurant.

Inverness and surrounds
Today we begin with a city tour of Inverness where our guide explains its rich and fascinating history. Then, we visit the infamous and deeply moving Battlefield of Culloden of 1746, which changed the Highland way of life forever. Next, we explore the pre-historic Clava Carins, otherworldly 4,000-year-old standing stones & ring cairns. In the afternoon we’ll enjoy a beautiful round-trip driving tour of Loch Ness. After dinner, we can enjoy live local music and ceilidh dancing, for those interested.

Day 6
Inverness to Balmacara
We start our day with a visit to the iconic Urquhart Castle, magnificently situated on the shore of Loch Ness. For more than 1,000 years this ruin has seen some of the most dramatic chapters in Scotland’s history. Next, we enjoy a picturesque autumn drive to the scenic Glenelg area. We make our way to the idyllic village of Plockton, which rests on the shores of Loch Carron and is often called the Jewel of the Highlands. Tonight we dine and lodge in Balmacara.

Day 7
Balmacara to the Isle of Skye
Today, our first stop is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Scotland, the 13th-century Eilean Donan Castle. Afterward, we take the dramatic bridge over to the Isle of Skye to begin our afternoon exploration of the island including the Sligachan old bridge, Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point Lighthouse then up to Uig. Tonight we enjoy fine dining and lodging on the northern peninsula of Skye.

Day 8
The Isle of Skye
We begin an exciting day on Skye with a visit to the mystical and otherworldly Fairy Glen. Making our way toward the capital city of Portree, we’ll discover the island’s iconic locations, including the Skye Museum of Island Life, the grave of Flora MacDonald, The Quiraing, Kilt Rock, the Old Man of Storr and Lealt Falls. In Portree, the picturesque capital of Skye, we’ll enjoy shopping, free time to explore, dinner and lodging.

Day 9
Isle of Skye to Oban
This morning we catch the Mallaig Ferry and cross back to the Scottish mainland for lunch in the charming coastal village of Arisaig. We then head east to the shores of Loch Shiel and visit the Glenfinnan Monument and Viaduct. Next, we are awed as we drive through the mighty and majestic Glen Coe valley. Making our way to the port town of Oban, we enjoy dinner at one of the best seafood restaurants in Scotland and lodge for the night.

Day 10
Oban to Edinburgh
Leaving Oban, we begin our journey through the stunning Highland Perthshire countryside exploring the exquisite Glenlyon area (Sir Walter Scott called it the “longest, loneliest and loveliest glen in Scotland”). We complete our day with a fascinating tour of the incomparable Stirling Castle, one of the most important and historic castles in Scotland. Tonight we’ll celebrate with a farewell dinner and lodge at an airport hotel for morning departures.

Depending on your flight preference, you can depart tonight or spend the night in Edinburgh and depart early the next morning. *Airport hotel is not included in this package.
